The blue and white of the tartan represents the Atlantic Ocean and the whitecaps of the surf. The light Green represents Nova Scotias deciduous forests, while the dark green represents the coniferous. The Red stands for the Lion Rampant predominately displayed on the Provincial Coat of Arms.
