The face of the ring was originally part of a broken 18k gold Renaissance Revival brooch (circa 1860) transformed by removing the pin findings and adding a custom 14k gold band

crafted in 9ct gold and featuring two intertwined serpents set with garnets of subtly different hues - one a rhodolite garnet and the other a grossular/hessonite garnet

It is marked 18k gold and also bears an unknown maker's mark
