Last week, we covered 4 of the 6 cards that are currently Forbidden that were reprinted in the Mega Tins, and the first card we will be looking at is Mirage of Nightmare
Arita explained to Pokemon.com in 2018, As you know, the first Pokmon video games came out on the Game Boy in monochrome, with a really rudimentary pixel art...so when I started on this project, pretty much all I had as reference were those spritesthe pixel art of the Pokmon. Arita and other artists that worked on the base set largely used their own visions to bring the garbled and pixelated images in the early games to life, and undoubtedly had a significant influence over the portrayal of these Pokmon in the future.
It made the game accessible in a way no other rarity collection after would be able to replicate
My personal favorite is the Island which, because Im old, reminds me of when Jaws pops out of the water on the Universal Studios tour
